IVAN BRISSENDEN ART GALLERY
I was formerly a creative director of ad
agencies in London and Newcastle upon Tyne. I was one of the three founder
directors of Kinghorn-Davies Advertising of Blandford Square, Newcastle and the
company’s Creative Director. Now retired, I produce experimental work in mixed
media/acrylics and computer-generated images.
Currently, I am exploring the latent
promise of the wax/resin encaustic process, interpreting land, sea and skyscapes
by filtering out the distractions of the obvious to allow viewers to experience
what they see in the light of their own attitudes, awareness or lifestyles.
My background in graphic design and working with computers has undoubtedly
influenced my focus. However, by probing the boundaries of the ancient art* of
encaustic, I am discovering new and exciting logic structures that enable me to
move beyond the confines of certainty, into a world of visual anarchy.
